| EVENT: "On the Question of Intelligence in Plants" LECTURER: Dr. Cameron Bell, Professor of Botany DATE: April 20 Time/Place: 8 P.M. at Richardson Hall |
| You are invited to attend an upcoming lecture titled "The Question of Intelligence in Plants," presented by professor of botany Dr. Cameron Bell. This talk will explore one of the most intriguing frontiers in modern biology: whether plants can be said to possess forms of intelligence. Drawing on recent research in plant signaling communication, and adaptive behavior, the lecture will challenge long-held assumptions about what it means to show intelligence. Attendees will gain insight into how plants process information, interact with their environments, and exhibit surprising capabilities that blur the boundaries between reaction and cognition. Dr. Bell will also survey and respond to the views of scientists who are skeptical about ascribing intelligence to plants. A discussion with audience members will follow the lecture. |
